A Fresh Take on Baptism Day: The Story Behind Edelweiss Collective
Some ideas begin with a business plan. Others begin with a mother wanting to make an important day feel a little more special.
Edelweiss Collective began with a baptism.
Years ago, when our oldest daughter was preparing to be baptized, I wanted to create something meaningful just for her. I designed a jumpsuit hoping to give her something beautiful and personal to wear on a day she would remember for the rest of her life.
I never imagined what would happen next.
That same jumpsuit was passed down to her younger sisters and, most recently, worn by my granddaughters on their baptism days. What began as one special outfit became a treasured family tradition—one jumpsuit connecting generations of girls on some of their most meaningful days.
And eventually, we began to wonder:
What if we could share that feeling with other families?
A Fresh Take on Baptism Day
That question became the inspiration for Edelweiss Collective.
We’ve created unique, thoughtfully designed jumpsuits that offer a fresh and personal way to celebrate baptism day. Our LDS baptism jumpsuits are specifically designed to be worn in the water for the baptism ordinance and meet the Church's requirement that a person being baptized wear white clothing that is not transparent when wet.
But the story doesn't end with the baptism.
Our jumpsuits can be worn for photos before the baptism, and then enjoyed again for church the next day, family celebrations, parties, weddings, holidays, and other special occasions.
We wanted to create something worthy of the occasion—something beautiful, personal, and meaningful enough to become part of her story long after her baptism day.
Inspired by a Meaningful Name
The name Edelweiss is deeply personal to us.
It was inspired by my years living in Switzerland, where the edelweiss flower represents purity, resilience, and enduring beauty—qualities that beautifully reflect the meaning of baptism.
The name also brings back cherished memories of The Sound of Music and its beloved song “Edelweiss,” which I sang to my children at bedtime.
The words “clean and bright” and “bloom and grow forever” have always felt especially meaningful to us. They remind us of the renewal that comes with baptism and of our hopes for our children as they grow in faith and discover who they are meant to become.
For the Moments That Matter
At Edelweiss, we believe childhood is made up of meaningful milestones—the big ones and the little ones.
Baptisms. Family celebrations. Weddings. Holidays. Sunday mornings. The moments when children are growing, learning, and becoming who they are meant to be.
We celebrate those moments and the journey of growing up, knowing that each child is deeply loved and encouraged to reach her divine potential.
Our hope is that an Edelweiss jumpsuit becomes part of one of those beautiful memories for your family, just as that very first jumpsuit became part of ours.
